About This Event
The Downtown Scoop: A Walking Tour is an event organized by the Kelowna Museums Society that offers a unique way to explore the history of Kelowna. The tour is a 1.5 km walk around downtown Kelowna, where participants can learn about the birth of Bernard Avenue, the early European immigrants who settled in the area, the fires that devastated downtown, and the history of Okanagan Lake. The tour also provides insights into the Syilx people, the indigenous inhabitants of the region.
The tour is designed to be an engaging and educational experience, with the content being based on historic newspapers and engaging storytellers. Participants will get to explore early Kelowna through these newspapers, which are full of fascinating things such as headlines, stories, gossip columns, and even advertisements. The tour is based on a new exhibit called Extra! Extra!, which further enhances the historical exploration.
The Kelowna Museums Society, the organizer of the event, is an organization that provides the public with educational exhibitions and programs that foster personal participation, stimulate curiosity, and engage the senses with the cultures, histories, and possibilities of the Okanagan region.
Please note that the ticket price for the event is $15 and the Eventbrite’s fee is nonrefundable. For any refund requests, you would need to contact the organizer directly.
